ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability will be holding its tri-annual World Congress from April 8 to 12 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Members and partners of ICLEI gather every three years to share past experiences and discuss upcoming strategies. It is expected that mayors, local government politicians and staff, representatives from international agencies, national governments, donors, and other partners will attend the event. While the main focus of ICLEI is building sustainable cities, main themes of the World Congress will include optimizing urban partnerships, financing urban sustainability initiatives, SDGs and the post-2015 agenda, as well as trends, targets and solutions for sustainable local governments.

Part of the World Congress will include a Researcher's Symposium where scholars and experts in sustainable urban development will come together and discuss various debates in international policy-making and sustainable development. The deadline for the submission of abstracts and papers for this portion of the Congress has passed.
