Following the succesful webinar on 'cities and countries working in crisis', a new series of webinars will take place in the upcoming months. UCLG and the CIB Working group will facilitate a webinar series (Spanish, English and French) on best practices from LGAs in SDG implementation and reporting (December 2018). In January 2019, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities will lead a second webinar on measuring the capacity of municipal institutions.

Webinar series in December - best practices from LGAs in SDG implementation and reporting
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. Local and regional authorities are crucial actors in the implementation of the SDGs, as 65% of the goals need to be carried out at the local level. United Cities and Local Governments has developed a learning module for local government associations, which can help you to play a (larger) role in the implementation, monitoring and reporting on the SDGs.
UCLG and the CIB Working Group will introduce this module to local government associations from all around the world, in three webinars in December, in three languages (EN, FR, ES). Theory and practice will be combined by inviting those local government associations which have already yielded great results in the last years in this field to the webinars. All three webinars will facilitate a dialogue on why the SDGs are important for local and regional governments and help you identify the next steps, in view of the next High Level Political Forum (HLPF) and other milestones in the next years. Mejores prácticas de Asociaciones de Gobiernos Locales en implementación e informe de los ODS
Ciudades y Gobiernos Locales Unidos y el Grupo de Trabajo Fortalecimiento institucional y de las capacidades (CIB por sus siglas en inglés) promueven una serie de conferencias web o webinars que tendrán lugar en diciembre de 2018. El grupo de participantes al que estaría dirigido es para las Asociaciones de Gobiernos Locales acerca del seguimiento e informes voluntarios de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) a nivel local.
Esta primera conferencia web servirá de introducción al proceso de presentación de informes sobre la implementación de los ODS al nivel local y regional, con las experiencias de Asociaciones de Latino América y España (programa completo adjunto). La participación por parte de los representantes de las asociaciones de gobiernos locales y regionales es especialmente importante porque en 2019 será presentado de nuevo el progreso realizado, en el ámbito de la localización de los ODS, a las Naciones Unidas durante el Foro Político de Alta Nivel (HLPF) en julio. Es una prioridad comunicar los esfuerzos y el progreso conseguido hasta ahora a través de informes, realizados voluntariamente por las Asociaciones Nacionales de Gobiernos Locales, actores claves en este proceso.

Série de webinaires en décembre - Bonnes pratiques des collectivités locales en matière de mise en œuvre et de reporting sur les ODD
Les objectifs de développement durable (ODD) constituent un appel à l'action de tous les pays pour promouvoir la prospérité tout en protégeant la planète. Les autorités locales et régionales sont des acteurs essentiels dans la mise en œuvre des ODD, car 65% des objectifs doivent être réalisés au niveau local. Cités et Gouvernements Locaux Unis (CGLU) a développé des modules d'apprentissage pour les associations de gouvernements locaux, qui peut vous aider à jouer un rôle (plus grand) dans la mise en œuvre, le suivi et la production de rapports sur les ODD.
CGLU et le groupe de travail CIB présenteront ces modules (notamment module 3) aux associations de gouvernements locaux du monde entier, lors de trois webinaires en décembre, en trois langues (EN, FR, ES). La théorie et la pratique seront combinées en invitant les associations de gouvernements locaux qui ont déjà donné de grands résultats ces dernières années dans ce domaine aux webinaires. Les trois webinaires faciliteront le dialogue sur la raison pour laquelle les ODD sont importants pour les gouvernements locaux et régionaux et vous aideront à identifier les prochaines étapes, dans la perspective du prochain Forum politique de haut niveau (juillet 2019) et des autres étapes/évenements importantes des prochaines années. Webinar on measuring capacity of municipal institutions (led by FCM)
How do you define municipal sustainability? What tools and approaches do you use to measure the capacity of municipal institutions? How do you engage national and local stakeholders in that discussion? Defining and measuring change in organizational capacity is a foundational element of effective programming with the municipal sector. This webinar will convey a conversation among CIB members who are seeking to improve how they measure progress with project beneficiaries. Selected presenters will share their approach, ideas and tools related to measuring municipal capacity. This will be followed by a facilitated discussion to compare approaches and deepen the conversation.
